Here are some common questions about short term mission trips.
Q: I’ve never been on a mission trip before, do I need any special skills?
A: Can you love? Then you are qualified to go. We ask that you demonstrate an openness to new experiences and a servant’s heart. Plus, you will also need to practice the number one rule of mission trips: Be Flexible!
Q: How long is a “short-term” mission trip?
A: Most of our trips are for a week to countries in Central and South America, and 10-14 days for Europe, Asia and Africa.
Q: I’m not rich. How do people afford to do this kind of thing?
A: We encourage team members to not try to cover their costs alone. Bring folks on board with what you feel God has called you to do by asking them to support you financially. There are lots of people who can’t go on a trip like this but are excited to be part of helping you go. Sure it takes a little humility to ask someone for money, but God doesn’t call us to do this kind of thing alone. Get the body of Christ involved. We can give you tips on how to raise money for your short-term trip. Contact your trip leader for more details.
Q: What will we actually be doing?
A: Depends on the trip. In some countries we are involved in construction projects, vacation Bible school programs and training fellow believers. Other countries are more closed to these kinds of activities. When on a trip to those areas your role becomes more relational, going to see what God is doing with your brothers and sisters around the world.
Q: How do I get on a trip?
A: Once you have decided which trip you are interested in, contact us on the above form and an application will be emailed to you. Print it out, fill it out, and send it in to the address listed on the application. We encourage you to contact us through the website to see if Commission Expeditions is still receiving applications for the trip in which you are interested.
